SESSION-5
“LEARN SPOKEN ENGLISH FROM HOME”. –
By MaddaliSwetha

ACCENT:

English words which have two or more syllables are pronounced in such a way that only one of the syllables gets the maximum prominence. This is called accent.

For instance, the word ‘about’ has two syllables and the second syllable is accented. This can be represented as a-bout. Often the English spoken by people is difficult to understand because of wrong emphasize of words.

Therefore, while learning to speak English fluently, it is essential to pay attention to the accent pattern.
