LEMON PICKLE RECIPE (NIMMAKAYA URAGAYA)

Lemon pickle is a popular pickle recipe made with lemons cut into pieces and mixed with red chilli powder, salt, turmeric, Haldi, fenugreek powder; combined together and store for a period of time. Lemon Pickle is one spicy pickle that is usually served with curd rice in south India. Pickle lovers will definitely love to eat this every day. 

Lemon is good for health. Lemon pickle can be taken every day in your diet with curd rice. Tasty tasty Healthy healthy lemon. Then why late let’s get into kitchen room and start preparing it………..


MAIN ITEMS: ( famous recipe in India)

1. Lemons for Lemon (నిమ్మ) Pickle.


2. Cut lemon pieces for Lemon Pickle.


INGREDIENTS:


Lemons                 :    10 (medium size)

Lemons                  :    14 (for juice) 

Salt                        :     1\2 cup (approx. 5 to6 table spoons)

Red chilli powder:     1\2 cup

Oil                         :      1\4 cup (ground nut oil)

Haldi (పసుపు)     :     1\2 table spoon

Methi powder     :     1 table spoon (fenugreek/ మెంతులు)

Hing                     :     1\2 tea spoon (If necessary only)

Red chillies         :     4

Rai                        :     1 table spoon (mustard/ ఆవాలు)

STEPS:

1. Cut lemons into medium size pieces. Add 1\2 cup salt and 1\2 tea spoon Haldi.  Keep it in a dry bottle or any glass Jar for 3 days.  (Shake the jar well every day).

2. Take large bowl; put the lemon pieces into it.  Add 1\2 cup red chili powder, 1 table spoon Methi powder to it.  Mix well.

3. Take a frying pan.  Heat 1\4  cup oil.  Add Rai, Red chillies and Hing to it.  Let the rai splutter. Remove it from the flame and cool it.  

Add the cooled thadka/Taalimpu to the lemon pickle and mix well. Store it in an air tight jar.

4. Nimmakaya uragaya in Andhra style is ready.

5. You can store this in refrigerator too.


HEALTH TIPS

Some women may face indigestion trouble while traveling for long distance journey. 

so, here is my suggestion to you .....please carry a half small piece of lemon. Try to smell it and also taste lemon juice drops slowly. This is very good and gives you immediate relaxation from indigestion problem in traveling time.
