HOW HR TEST YOUR PSYCHOLOGY IN AN INTERVIEW?

“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” - Thomas A. Edison

In an interview, When HR asks you the question - “Why don’t I have hobbies?”,  you might be thinking that the question doesn’t sound right.

You must be wondering the right question  is “Why you don’t have hobbies?”. We will get to it in a bit.

Generally, in a one-page resume, candidates do not mention hobbies. Mentioning hobbies might make the resume longer and can make it less ideal. It is always better to answer the question directly during the interview when HR asks it.

Of course, “why don't I have hobbies?” sounds like a tragedy and we might feel HR is not a knowledgeable person.

But it is a very tricky question.

HR is testing your “psychology” indirectly. An ordinary candidate thinks “why don't you have hobbies?” is the right question. He / she would immediately look at it as a grammatical mistake.

At that point, we need to think differently.

Generally, freshers mention hobbies in their resumes whereas the experienced candidates would never mention hobbies, instead, they would add more about the projects they have worked on.

So, what is the right answer for this question?

“Sir/Madam, at present your mindset might be to think more about the salary, the position in society and in the office. You will make your time for your friends and family, and want to earn more money to cover your expenses.

Reading Books, Cooking and Gardening might not be your hobbies. Eventually, there is only one hobby - Making more money to live happily.”

Making money does not appear in the hobbies in a resume but it eventually becomes our only hobby in life.
