“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

Good morning to all readers and viewers of my blog – Maddali Swetha Blog - http://maddaliswetha.blogspot.com/ (IDEAS CAN BE LIFE CHANGING).

Now, I am going to talk about my story which happened in my MBA Time. Why I am saying this to you? Because I am a student at that age.

Let’s start this wonderful story:

This happened on Friday – I went out to bring flowers in my apartment trees. When I was bringing flowers home, I was thinking - What is this life?

After I came home, I was preparing to go to college and my father came home. My father is a bank manager and he was in transfer living in Warangal (Telangana) on those days.

Every week he comes home and spend time with us in Hyderabad (Telangana), again the next morning he goes back to Warangal (Telangana).

Immediately, when I saw him, I got angry and said to my father – My elder sister studied in a richer college, my brother is studying in the richest college and you joined me in Only Rich college. They go to college in their college bus and sometimes in cycle and scooty.

I go to college by walking or in a sharing auto rickshaw, everyday which is very crowded. Also, YOU NEVER BUY ME ANYTHING.

My father said to me that what I don’t buy you anything. Here, is 1000 Rupees – “GO AND MAKE EXPENDITURE – It’s Your Wish, It’s Your Day!

Again, I am saying – It’s 1000 Rupees and it’s my day!

On that day, I didn’t go to college took that 1000 rupees started shopping in my area surroundings only.

These are the questions that raised in my mind and the answers which my heart saying:

So, when I entered inside the temple, I was thinking – This is my day, if I give it to God I have to wait for many years. This is 1000 rupees and it’s my day.

After some time, I came out of the temple and there was a beggar asking me – “Swetha can you give me some money. You have 1000 Rupees in your hand, when he is asking for money – I felt that I also begged money from my father saying” – You Never Buy Me Anything.

Question 12: I went to a Mobile shop - To buy the latest mobile?

My Answer: When I visited the mobile shop, I have seen all latest mobiles which were displayed in the shop. When I saw all the mobiles – I was thinking – 3 questions have appeared in my mind.

Why I need a new mobile phone?

See I have a mobile Phone which was gifted by my father on my birthday and I am using it daily.

Why I need to carry my mobile phone?

My college is near to my home, I have given these numbers to my parents - my classmates, My teacher, My college in-charge, My principal, and college Library teacher. After college I come back home and learn subjects which were taught in college and do homework.

Most of the time I stay in the library that my parents and siblings know it. If I go out, I don’t have a habit of carrying a mobile Phone – I give contact numbers to my parents and siblings. Then Why I need to carry it out? – See, in my school days, there were no mobile - only landlines – We lived happily. Right!

Money for recharge in mobile Phone?

I clean - 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies’ (Deep Cleaning - Monthly), Home Cleaning (Weekly - Sunday), Sofa Cleaning (Monthly), Kitchen Cleaning and Vegetables Cutting (Daily) - Take money from my father and my mother give me pocket money to drink coconut water – everyday.

Note: I AM SELF-EMPLOYED PERSON. I FEEL GREAT!

Also, I save my earnings for travelling to college and mobile recharge too.

Why I need a new mobile phone? Why I need to buy? There is no need to buy. So, I left that shop and went to other shop.

Question 13: I went to a hand bag shop – To buy a new hand bag?

My Answer: I went to a hand bag shop and I have seen all variety of new hand bags. But I was thinking – I have bags which were my birthday gifts. Why I need to buy? There is no need to buy. So, I left that shop and went to other shop.

Question 14: I went to buy stationary items – To buy new books, pens, etc.

My Answer: When I visited that shop to buy – I was thinking – I have my earned money to buy Books, Pens (Use and throw), Pencils (1 rupee – I buy 2 pencils), I don’t use - white papers books, I use only yellow papers or ash papers books.

Remember in India – There is no rule that students should use only white pages book in college.

Why I need to buy costly items? There is no need to buy. So, I left that shop and went to other shop.

After some time, I have seen my college classmates coming out from the college gate – I asked them let’s go and enjoy and they told me that Swetha exams are there, we cannot spend time now. See you in college tomorrow. Bye! And they have left!

Then after I travelled in sharing auto rickshaw to my home street – when I stepped out my foot wear was need to repair and it was a very sunny climate.

I asked the sharing auto rickshaw person - Can you please drop me in my home? I will give you an extra amount – I don’t have extra foot wear to walk and it was a very sunny climate. And he dropped me at my home gate - I said please wait I will get change for 1000 rupees.

He said to me - I cannot see a woman walking on a road without footwear, you look like my daughter, it’s your birthday gift and the sharing auto rickshaw left! And I came home.

I came home and said to my father – “Every Street - There is a Bank and Bank Manager, You Don’t Have an Own Home, No Car and How I Can Spend Only 1000 Rupees. It’s not enough! And I cried and slept and he left to Warangal on that night!

Likewise, for 3 months – my father and I have no talks.

This is the part that you should be surprised – A miracle happened after 3 months.

What happened? You tell me! Any guesses!

My father came – answered my questions he said:

Question 1: You are a Bank Manager?

Answer: Now, I am Asst – Vice President in bank

Question 2: You don’t have own home?

Answer: I have purchased a new home with 3 bedrooms and you have a special room also which is very near to your college.

Question 3: You don’t have a car?

Answer: Here is my new car and my driving license.

Now, here is 2000 Rupees – “GO AND MAKE EXPENDITURE – It’s Your Wish, It’s your day.

I was shocked – I said to my father – Father, I have all, no time to spend with friends, Exams are there. Please take back your money.

He say’s No - I say’s No ------- After some minutes. There is a big laugh from my back. That’s my mother laughing by seeing both of us.

She said to my father and me.

Father doesn’t know what to buy! – My daughter doesn’t know what to buy!

Let me solve your both problems, come and sit here. Give me that 2000Ruppes.

Answer 1: I will pay here college exam fee

Answer 2: I will buy her a new hand watch

Answer 3: Remaining amount - Swetha will pay amount for petrol of your car.

Drive her in your car to her friends, relatives, college, exam centre, etc. wherever she likes to visit.

See the image below - The hand watch which was gifted by my mother – Whenever I see it on my hand I get laugh and I remember what that day happened in my life. All those are sweet memories in my entire life.
