READ THIS: RESUME GUIDE FOR PHDs PROVIDED BY CHEEKY SCIENTIST – FREE DOWNLOAD E-BOOK

Before my conclusion,

Let’s see what this E-book says and what it motivates:

Isaiah Hankel, Phd (Anatomy & Cell Biology) is a Founder & CEO of Cheeky Scientist. He is bestselling Author and Career Strategist.

Cheeky Scientist is an industry training platform for academic PhDs who are ready to become confident and successful industry professionals.

This E-book consists of 28 Pages.

Overview book content:

1. Get job leads through referrals and automatic alerts.

2. Write a persuasive document.

3. Focus on a strong professional summary statement.

4. Write results - oriented bullet points, not descriptions of your job duties.

5. Highlight your transferable skills, not action verbs.

6. Include company and position specific keywords.

7. Limit your resume to two pages or less with lots of white space.

8. Sandwich your technical skills between a transferable skills and a result.

9. Highlight your publications as a quantified result.

10. Submit your resume directly to a person.

My conclusion after reading E-book:

1. In resume, reference is not much given importance.

2. Candidate background checking is important then being giving lot of referrals.

3. If you want to give reference, just give college or university contact number or admission or role number of that particular year certificated document of candidate in clear check certificates.

4. Because, most of the certificates are fool proof and college marks with school marks also with grades.

5. In general, job reference is good by your colleagues who worked with you i.e, Performance appraisal.

6. It says LinkedIn profiles are important for hiring a PhDs candidates I am neutral to this point.

7. There is no survey done about - “How many candidates got jobs by using LinkedIn basement?”

8. Only 99% is given importance of resume but only 1% who is also fails in interviews and PPT’s. This 1% plays major and vital roles.

9. You can go through my blog in LinkedIn (Maddali Swetha) about resume which I wrote article, I hope it will useful for PhDs –

Top 10 Career Objectives That Can Add Up In Your CV or Resume:

10. He mentioned in page – 18, about “Applicant Tracking System (ATS) software”:

Applicant Tracking System (ATS) are a type of software that act as a human resources database for organizing applicants. Its plays a major role in selection or recruitment process.

- Even when I have worked as HR Recruitment, we use to shortlist the candidate resumes in this procedure while hiring process.

Those are:
  • Candidate Serial number,
  • Skills,
  • Candidate Name,
  • Qualification,
  • Contact Numbers,
  • Email ID’s,
  • Open for Relocation,
  • Current Designation,
  • Current Location,
  • Marital Status,
  • Preferred Location,
  • Total Experience 0 to 5 or 6 years,
  • Expected salary, etc.

11. In page – 20, it is said that the hiring manager will only spend 5 to 7 seconds reading your resume. It’s true statement.

12. Overall the entire Cheeky Scientist E- book presentation is very good research with figures.

Note:
  • Resume making or Professional Resume differs from country to country.
  • You can download this E-book directly from the Cheeky Scientist Website.
